मै मनि तनि बिरहु अति अगला किउ प्रीतमु मिलै घरि आइ ॥
Within my mind and body is the intense pain of separation; how can my Beloved come to meet me in my home?
ਜਾ ਦੇਖਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਿ ਦੇਖਿਐ ਦੁਖੁ ਜਾਇ ॥
Ja Dhaekha Prabh Apana Prabh Dhaekhiai Dhukh Jae ||
जा देखा प्रभु आपणा प्रभि देखिऐ दुखु जाइ ॥
When I see my God, seeing God Himself, my pain is taken away.
ਜਾਇ ਪੁਛਾ ਤਿਨ ਸਜਣਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਕਿਤੁ ਬਿਧਿ ਮਿਲੈ ਮਿਲਾਇ ॥੧॥
Jae Pushha Thin Sajana Prabh Kith Bidhh Milai Milae ||1||
जाइ पुछा तिन सजणा प्रभु कितु बिधि मिलै मिलाइ ॥१॥
I go and ask my friends, ""How can I meet and merge with God?""||1||
ਮੇਰੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਾ ਮੈ ਤੁਝ ਬਿਨੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Maerae Sathigura Mai Thujh Bin Avar N Koe ||
मेरे सतिगुरा मै तुझ बिनु अवरु न कोइ ॥
O my True Guru, without You I have no other at all.
ਹਮ ਮੂਰਖ ਮੁਗਧ ਸਰਣਾਗਤੀ ਕਰਿ ਕਿਰਪਾ ਮੇਲੇ ਹਰਿ ਸੋਇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
Ham Moorakh Mugadhh Saranagathee Kar Kirapa Maelae Har Soe ||1|| Rehao ||
हम मूरख मुगध सरणागती करि किरपा मेले हरि सोइ ॥१॥ रहाउ ॥
I am foolish and ignorant; I seek Your Sanctuary. Please be Merciful and unite me with the Lord. ||1||Pause||
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦਾਤਾ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਆਪਿ ਮਿਲਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Dhatha Har Nam Ka Prabh Ap Milavai Soe ||
सतिगुरु दाता हरि नाम का प्रभु आपि मिलावै सोइ ॥
The True Guru is the Giver of the Name of the Lord. God Himself causes us to meet Him.
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਬੁਝਿਆ ਗੁਰ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਕੋਇ ॥
Sathigur Har Prabh Bujhia Gur Jaevadd Avar N Koe ||
सतिगुरि हरि प्रभु बुझिआ गुर जेवडु अवरु न कोइ ॥
The True Guru understands the Lord God. There is no other as Great as the Guru.
ਹਉ ਗੁਰ ਸਰਣਾਈ ਢਹਿ ਪਵਾ ਕਰਿ ਦਇਆ ਮੇਲੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸੋਇ ॥੨॥
Ho Gur Saranaee Dtehi Pava Kar Dhaeia Maelae Prabh Soe ||2||
हउ गुर सरणाई ढहि पवा करि दइआ मेले प्रभु सोइ ॥२॥
I have come and collapsed in the Guru's Sanctuary. In His Kindness, He has united me with God. ||2||
ਮਨਹਠਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਕਰਿ ਉਪਾਵ ਥਕੇ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਇ ॥
Manehath Kinai N Paeia Kar Oupav Thhakae Sabh Koe ||
मनहठि किनै न पाइआ करि उपाव थके सभु कोइ ॥
No one has found Him by stubborn-mindedness. All have grown weary of the effort.
ਸਹਸ ਸਿਆਣਪ ਕਰਿ ਰਹੇ ਮਨਿ ਕੋਰੈ ਰੰਗੁ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥
Sehas Sianap Kar Rehae Man Korai Rang N Hoe ||
सहस सिआणप करि रहे मनि कोरै रंगु न होइ ॥
Thousands of clever mental tricks have been tried, but still, the raw and undisciplined mind does not absorb the Color of the Lord's Love.
ਕੂੜਿ ਕਪਟਿ ਕਿਨੈ ਨ ਪਾਇਓ ਜੋ ਬੀਜੈ ਖਾਵੈ ਸੋਇ ॥੩॥
Koorr Kapatt Kinai N Paeiou Jo Beejai Khavai Soe ||3||
कूड़ि कपटि किनै न पाइओ जो बीजै खावै सोइ ॥३॥
By falsehood and deception, none have found Him. Whatever you plant, you shall eat. ||3||
ਸਭਨਾ ਤੇਰੀ ਆਸ ਪ੍ਰਭੁ ਸਭ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਰੇ ਤੂੰ ਰਾਸਿ ॥
Sabhana Thaeree As Prabh Sabh Jeea Thaerae Thoon Ras ||
सभना तेरी आस प्रभु सभ जीअ तेरे तूं रासि ॥
O God, You are the Hope of all. All beings are Yours; You are the Wealth of all.
ਪ੍ਰਭ ਤੁਧਹੁ ਖਾਲੀ ਕੋ ਨਹੀ ਦਰਿ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਸਾਬਾਸਿ ॥
Prabh Thudhhahu Khalee Ko Nehee Dhar Guramukha No Sabas ||
प्रभ तुधहु खाली को नही दरि गुरमुखा नो साबासि ॥
O God, none return from You empty-handed; at Your Door, the Gurmukhs are praised and acclaimed.
ਬਿਖੁ ਭਉਜਲ ਡੁਬਦੇ ਕਢਿ ਲੈ ਜਨ ਨਾਨਕ ਕੀ ਅਰਦਾਸਿ ॥੪॥੧॥੬੫॥
